The aim of this festival is to inspire and inform New Zealanders about the possibilities of technology and innovation, and how it can positively impact our communities. It is a week-long festival that takes place across New Zealand, with a range of events catering to all interests.
In Christchurch, the main hub for Tech Week is the Epic building on Manchester St. This hub will host a range of events throughout the week, including workshops, presentations, and networking opportunities. The theme of this year’s festival is “Connecting for a Better Future”, which focuses on how technology can bring people together and create a more connected world.
One event that stands out on the Tech Week calendar is the “Canterbury Tech — Monster Meet Up” on Friday afternoon. This is an event not to be missed, as Canterbury Tech brings together technology sector meet-up groups in one space for a Monster Meet-up and an evening of entertainment and comedy. Attendees can look forward to inspiring lightning talks and an opportunity to find out about meet-ups in Canterbury that they may need to join.

I’m even getting my kids involved because on Thursday afternoon, there is a “Code-A-Thon” designed for kids aged 7–13 ish with activation stations to explore with robotics, coding, digital design and computer science unplugged all on offer!
