Why Chat GPT Is Just The Beginning

Chat GPT is free to use so you have no excuse to not be using it already

For those who haven’t tried it yet, you are missing out and I would encourage you to have a play with Chat GPT because you won’t be disappointed. The first time I logged in I had a sore face by the end of the day because I was smiling so much and I understood what this untapped potential was that had just been released to the world.

Chat GPT is good at interpreting what you are trying to say, there is a mistake on the first line and it still understood what I was asking of it.

So we now have an AI virtual assistant who is great at answering questions so move over Google because we are sick of searching for answers when you can just be given the answer directly. One fun thing to do is ask it for recipes and then tell it you don’t have 1 ingredient and it will give you an alternative recipe or tell you what to substitute that item with, there is no way a Youtube video or recipe book is going to do that for you.

But it does not just answer questions, it is also able to create content from scratch.

Not bad but a good starting point

So can it do your homework? Sort of, unfortunately, it’s extremely confident at giving answers even if they are wrong so it is best to know your content. But schools are already having to put measures in place to find out if students are using tools like Chat GPT and the plagiarism tools don’t work because every bit of content it creates can be unique.

Won’t do my homework . . . ok . . . I’ll ask a different question

So what about more advanced work? Well, it is phenomenal at knowing what to do and explaining things for you but I would be double-checking everything it outputs because it does slip up. But remember this is just the beginning and there is no doubt in my mind it will be close to perfect soon. In fact, some studies have already been done where the AI out performs the average student in essay writing so slowly it will be moving from a B grade to an A+ grade and you will struggle to fault it.

Last night I asked it to calculate how long it would take to heat my hot water cylinder and I knew the answer was off so I did my own equation. It had a massive calculation error somehow but if you didn’t know any better you might take the AI for its word.

Chat GPT is it is a spectacular study tool, it’s like having a tutor in your pocket whom you can ask questions in plain English and get plain answers out. Think just how many YouTube videos you may have to watch before you finally understand why the First Law Of Thermodynamics is calculated in Joules instead of Watts.

So where to from here?

What I’m excited about are all the new APIs and integrations that people are making that make it easy to implement AI into existing platforms. In no time at all AI is only going to get better and adopted into every sector of work and society.

It is a phenomenal tool that you need to be using in your business on a daily basis but I would just use it as a starting reference point, for example, the poem above isn’t great but it took 15 seconds and that is a great starting point to work from that could have taken me about 5–10 minutes to get to that point before I fine tune it. It’s a good thing I’m not a children’s book author . . . yet.
